When Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, deep sadness and mourning was felt all through the North. The funeral train stopped at most cities from Washington to Springfield. the funeral train was draped in black cloth and people took what they could as a souvenir of the sad event. Companies made mourning items and sold them as souvineers but most people would put the cloth in a book and forgot about it. A few would actually make a mourning reminder or souvenir of Lincolns death. This item is a home made relic souvenir of Lincolns death. It has a brass bust image of Lincoln with brass buttons attaching a black cloth onto a square piece of wood. I assume the cloth is of Lincolns funeral. USPS Priority shipping with insurance.
