A wonderful large authentic antique completely hand sewn 13 Star American Flag from The Civil War Era. Made of wool with a canvas hoist with three brass grommets. Individual hand cut and beautifully hand stitched stars made of cotton. The stripes are entirely hand stitched. It has some beautiful hand stitched repairs which in my opinion are a work of art unto themselves. 13 Star Flags did appear during the Civil War and were used mainly as patriotic symbols during the war to save the Union and keep it intact.
