Civil War Officers Saddle Blanket #1524
This wonderful and extremely rare Civil War period shabraque, or saddle blanket is made for either a McClellan or Whitman type saddle, in navy blue wool with piping around the edges. The underside is a heavy cloth, with cotton batting filling, approximately 48 x 32”. As you can see the aged condition of this piece is why most did not survive the war as they were heavily used every day. Very rare piece of a original Civil War relic. Framed so you can see the front and back side. As is condition.
