Made between 1895 and 1910 for the export trade primarily to American sailors traveling to oriental ports like Hong Kong, Shanghi

This example has exquisite sewing and embroidery of silver and gold bullion threads featuring two American Flags a eagle and a Federal Shield. Very high level of craftsmanship and beauty. It is in excellent condition.

I have seen four types of quality, first and lowest price is a somewhat crude example of embroidery sold to lower level sailors this is the type you normally find, then a better quality sold to mid level sailors, The third level of quality like this example would be much more expensive and sold to Ship Captains. Ans a fourth or highest level quality for executive level buyers.

This is a very rare 32 Star silk hankerchief from the entry of the 32nd State Minnesota.

Voted into the Union on May 11, 1858 and becoming a State on July 4th 1858.

Extremely high quality of fine silk with hand sewn gold stars on gold silk background. A true work of art. The quality on this is so high I cant believe they made very many. In my opinion I believe this to be made for a high State official ie; Governor, Congressman or Senator to remember this occasion.
